John Willyard

John is known as “The Voice of Hippie Radio.”  In the early ‘90’s John was one of the featured voices for Bill Young Productions and produced and voiced hundreds of Radio and TV spots for national touring acts like Alan Jackson, Def Comedy Jam, Michael Bolton, plus hundreds of album commercials covering the spectrum from rock to country for all the major labels.

In 1991 John was tapped as the image voice of KZLA Los Angeles.  That summer began a love affair with Country Radio that has grown through the years now encompassing imaging work from small markets to the voice of the CMA Awards on CBS-TVsince 1996, now broadcast on ABC-TV.  His voice is also heard in the Country Music Hall of Fame and Museum as part of “Country Music on Television” exhibit as he introduces CMA host Vince Gill on one of the actual telecasts.

In 1995 John became the promo voice for Atlanta-based WCW, World Championship Wrestling.  For six and a half years his voice work was heard weekly at one time on five separate syndicated and cable WCW shows.  It eventually streamlined to feature“Monday Nitro” on TNT and “Thunder” on TBS Superstation, where his voice was associated with performer packages, national promos as well as event and merchandise commercials.

With the birth of a new Turner Cable Network in 1999 John was chosen to be one of the signature voices of Turner South.

He’s also been featured on special CMT programming and now in the 21st century with GAC-TV, and has been the voice ofBrooks and Dunn, Martina McBride, and Garth Brooks radio specials plus MJI syndicated shows.

In late 2000 John began a busy relationship with CNN Domestic, CNN International and CNN Headline News.  He has been a promo voice for everything from “Larry King Live” to “Piers Morgan,” the “Space Shuttle Tragedy” as well as “Saddam Hussein Captured!” to “America Decides” during the 2002 elections.

John’s voice has been utilized for NBC Sports NFL promos for Sunday Night Football.  His many voices have also been heard on GAC-TV, HDNet, local ABC and FOX TV affiliates including the newest FOX O & O, FOX 46 Carolinas, Charlotte, NC.  John also voices national and local commercials, and dozens of narrations including pharmaceuticals and documentaries such asSpacecraft Films series on space flight, most notably “The Mighty Saturns” and “Project Gemini.”

John lent his voice to a myriad of radio and TV spots throughout 2009 on the successful New Jersey Governor’s Campaign.

In January 2011 John was asked to be the on site live announcer for special concerts and inaugural ceremonies for the newGovernor of the State of Florida, Rick Scott.

His voice was also used to drive the Office 2010: Microsoft Office “Movie” trailer which has garnered more than 7 million views.

John’s acting abilities were notably used to portray Abraham Lincoln featured in an exhibit at the National Marine Museum in Washington, D.C.

Through it all the core of his voiceover business is his relationship with Country Radio, where his voice textures aren’t limited to one style, but cover the gamut from easy going and playful to emotional and heartfelt to hard sell and intense — with a pinch of singing and character voices frequently tossed in.

It has been said of John’s Country voice imaging “…you’re a Country badass!  Your voice is synonymous with Country…”  “John Willyard is the premier radio voice actor in America. You may notice that I said “Voice Actor” and not ‘Voice Over’ talent.” “The reads are dead on…you make the script come to life!”
